Part one of this feature dealt with the pros and cons of serviced apartments in London versus hotels.
Assuming you are convinced of the advantages, how do you actually track down a good serviced apartment or “apartment hotel” in London?
To give you a head-start, we’ve selected a few of the best options (based on guest feedback) below:
- Slightly outside the centre. One option worth considering is 274 Suites in West Hampstead. Though not especially central, the neighbourhood has all amenities you could want and is close to the tube. Apartments are not huge but functional with efficient services. All modcons including tv, internet access, etc are provided.
- Central. A good option in the centre – though you pay extra for the location – is 47 Park Street, run by the famous Marriott hotel group just off Oxford Street. I’ve personally met management and felt reassured that they specialise in the “long-stay experience”. They offer the usual hotel services including a concierge. The suites offer value for a family needing extra space and for extended business trips. Please be aware that extras are charged e.g. wifi, laundry, etc.
One final tip for those on a bigger budget: the 5-star Athenaeum Hotel (recent guest reviews give it excellent ratings) also has a certain number of high-quality apartments.
The Athenaeum will often automatically upgrade you to an apartment from a hotel booking, especially if you mention that you’re there for a special occasion. What’s more, it offers a fantastic location overlooking Green Park.
