Regular readers of this blog will know we’re passionate that you get value for money from your London hotel.
In that spirit, this article uncovers a gem of a hotel currently riding high on TripAdvisor’s rankings, ahead of much more expensive competitors.
While London’s super-luxury hotels – such as Claridge’s, The Dorchester and The Lanesborough – are among the world’s best, you also pay handsomely for the privilege of staying in them.
At the other end of the price scale are solid budget options such as Travelodge which we’ve also featured on the blog.
But it’s rare to find hotels that tick both the “service” and “value” boxes. It seems that Apex City of London Hotel is very much in this category.
Recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor speak for themselves:
The common theme is clear. This is a hotel in which staff seem to think they’re working at 5 star level, even though prices are much lower.
The hotel scores particularly well on staff friendliness and professionalism, the quality and size of the rooms and bathrooms for the price, as well as the hotel’s overall modernity and facilities.
In short, the Apex City of London Hotel is currently ranked in London’s top few hotels, based on a whopping 500+ guest reviews on TripAdvisor.
Looking at the hotel’s official website, I’m impressed that the management seems to actually listen to guest feedback.
In response to guest comments they’ve put extra lighting in rooms, added baked beans to the breakfast and even made their soap easier to handle!
While the hotel is not in the West End, it’s close to the tube so you can be there in no time. It’s also within walking distance of Tower Bridge.
The location is particularly handy for the City of London financial district.
If you use our meta-search tool across various booking websites (follow the links on this page or on the sidebar), you can sometimes grab a room at this hotel for under £100 – an absolute steal.
If you find the hotel fully-booked for the dates of your visit, then we’d suggest also trying the Hilton Tower Bridge (reviewed in our feature on London’s best Hiltons) as your next best option in a similar area.
