Brook Penthouse at Claridge's Hotel

The Brook Penthouse (Claridge's) has its own roof terrace

Next time you worry about the size of your hotel bill, spare a thought for the poor celebrities, mega-millionaires and aristocracy who have to make do with the following options (in no particular order):

1. Brook Penthouse Suite at Claridge’s.

Designed in the hotel’s trademark Art Deco style with its own private roof terrace, this suite has a large living area, two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and two dressing rooms with walk-in wardrobes.  There’s also a dining room and lots of entertaining space, with a dedicated butler naturally included.  Large bay windows provide sweeping views.

2. Royal Suite at the Lanesborough.

Reputed to be London’s most expensive suite, it comes with views over Buckingham Palace’s grounds as well as three bedrooms, a large lounge, panoramic windows, a study and your own private butler.  It’s understandably a favourite haunt of celebrities and has its own discreet location within the hotel.  You will certainly feel like royalty there!

3.  The Infinity Suite at the Langham Hotel.

I recall meeting this hotel’s MD when the suite was being refurbished (cost: £700,000) a few years ago.  It has two bedrooms, high ceilings, large flatscreen tvs and dressing areas.  There’s an infinity bath and entertaining space.  It’s also probably the most hi-tech of London’s ultra-deluxe suites.

4. The Harlequin Suite at the Dorchester.

This suite was renovated in 2007 and consists of a master bedroom with ensuite and dressing room, a living room, dining room and bar.  There is also a large terrace with gorgeous views over Hyde Park.  The suite has a luxurious master bathroom and a second bathroom (reputedly in pink) installed especially for Elizabeth Taylor when she stayed here.

It’s hard to come by exact prices for the above suites, but they’re reckoned to set you back £4000-£7000 a night.  Start saving those pennies!

If your budget is closer to the other end of the spectrum, you may be interested in £19 London hotel rooms and even very elusive £1 rooms.
