The Strand Palace Hotel was previously mentioned on this blog as one of London’s most visually-appealing Art Deco hotels.
While it’s not in the highest tier of London hotels on TripAdvisor (currently in the top 300 from 1150 hotels), its location just a stone’s throw from Covent Garden means that it’s always in demand.
And if you can get a room for £1 then who’s going to argue!
To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the hotel is giving away 100 rooms for £1. To qualify for this amazing deal, pre-register on the Strand Palace’s official website (London Hotels Insight in no way benefits from this link).
Winners will be chosen by prize draw: a more civilised method than the mouse-clicking frenzy induced by the Hoxton Hotel’s £1 room promotion.
The deadline for pre-registration is midnight on October 1st 2009. If you miss this date then do read on for some equally-good alternatives.
The Strand Palace’s offer includes breakfast and VAT but is valid for no more than one night. It applies for bookings between October 10th 2009 and February 28th 2010, subject to availability. Full terms and conditions here.
It is no more than an adequate hotel (if you want something special in the same area then try the amazing One Aldwych). However “cheap and OK” is sometimes all you need, especially when the location is this good.
If you miss the promo then do use our meta-search to get the best deal:
An alternative cheap hotel (high on TripAdvisor and just across the river) is the Premier Inn County Hall. It was already featured as one of London’s best hotels for families on a budget, with views of the London Eye to boot!
Finally, if you miss the above promotion but are still determined to bag a cheap and adequate London room, do also consider a cheap Travelodge.
And if you’re willing to trade up a notch, you can also check our feature on London’s “luxury budget” hotels to find similarly good value.
But above all, if you’re a true hotel value hunter then do keep reading London Hotels Insight!
