Best London hotel spas: Sofitel St James.
One of several stylish treatment rooms at the Sofitel SO Spa
We’ve already mentioned the fabulous new So SPA at Sofitel St James, a hotel with superb décor right in the heart of Piccadilly which is consistently ranked in TripAdvisor’s top 10 London hotels (currently in the top 5).
Just like the Dorchester Spa, So SPA by Sofitel has a diverse range of thoughtful treatments to suit both the business and leisure traveller .
It is spread out on three floors with stunning decor. Think marble walls and a sprawling oak staircase and that’s just to begin with. Enter beyond the reception area and you’re welcomed into a marble-clad hall leading off to the treatment rooms and a post-therapy relaxation area.

Tranquil water pools and mini French-style gardens give it a perfect spa ambiance. Select from one of the five treatment rooms, decorated with gold leaf lined niches and special “MyBed” massage tables.
Indulge in a private Turkish steam bath (Hammam) for a Middle Eastern experience or soak in the luxurious infinity bath or Astorina bath.
The reception area at the Sofitel So SPA is as plush as the treatment rooms
You are advised by a private Spa Butler service to help you navigate the wide range of treatments, including some intriguing options for men.
You may also wish to try out the brand-new So FIT gym and blissful Sha Chair which were recently reviewed on this blog.

Our past visits there – when we admired its luxurious hotel “product” with a distinctly French flavour – certainly suggest it should be on your shortlist. Be aware though that the hotel currently charges for WiFi.
