We’ve featured the Andaz before on this blog as it rises up the TripAdvisor rankings, currently sitting just outside the top 50 London hotels. On top of that, the Andaz’s management seems to have a real flair for innovation.
Not only does this manifest itself in the hotel’s “barrier-free” ethos but also in the way the hotel staff are trained to promote its immediate locality.
One way it gets closer to the surrounding area is by organising special events. We mentioned its summer parties as an example but there are also book readings, art shows and many other events at the hotel.

In keeping with this reputation, the hotel has just announced an intriguing “fete surprise” in partnership with renowned entertainer Jonny Woo.
This is the name given to a series of events due to kick off soon at its flagship 1901 Restaurant, which specialises in modern British fine dining.
They will be repeated each month and are described as “riotous nights of theatrical folly”. Each has a different theme: the first is “Coup de Theatre” (May 8th) followed by ‘Everybody’s Birthday’ (June 5th), ‘Tartrazine Dreams’ (July 3rd) and ‘The Pearly Party’ (August 14th).
They’ll include witty performances, party games, glam costumes and special menus – with diners given the chance to win overnight stays at the hotel.

This would not be a bad prize: the hotel’s reputation is growing and it’s well-placed to access East London’s hidden churches and historic pubs.
