As the company behind London’s Dorchester Hotel and top hotels in Paris, Milan, New York and LA, it’s safe to say that the Dorchester Collection knows a thing or two about running accomplished luxury hotels.
Now, with the forthcoming opening of their newest luxury property in London – 45 Park Lane – the group is looking for talented hospitality staff to join its team in a wide range of jobs. And since the hotel is due to open in September 2011, if the idea of working in a new luxury London hotel tickles your fancy, you’d better start polishing your CV pretty soon.
45 Park Lane looks set to be another striking addition to the burgeoning London luxury boutique hotel scene. Situated in upscale Mayfair, the 45 in the name is not just part of the address, it’s also the number of rooms and suites that will be available when the hotel opens. Each one will apparently feature a view over Hyde Park.
According to Hotel Manager Marie-Laure Akdag: “our tagline is ‘international buzz with a London beat – so we want our guests to feel they are in London and we want it to be a quirky London; there’s going to be a lot of art in the hotel.” Art in London hotels is another strong current trend.
When the hotel opens, it will also be significant for the opening of legendary chef Wolfgang Puck’s very first restaurant in Europe, Cut at 45 Park Lane – a contemporary American steak restaurant. This will allow it to compete with Claridge’s and other luxury London hotel restaurants.
What sort of candidates is 45 Park Lane looking for?
Browsing through the hotel’s London jobs, they seem to be seeking talented and experienced individuals to join their team – people with excellent communication skills who are able to build rapport with guests. In common with the usual recruitment strategy of top London hotels, the Dorchester Collection is looking for people who are motivated and committed to “raising service standards to the highest level attainable.”
Job vacancies at 45 Park Lane span the full range of positions required in the day-to-day running of a 5 star London hotel, including housekeeping attendants, waiters, security personnel, bartenders, porters and chefs.
There are several managerial roles open to applicants too, including Bar Manager and Floor Manager. The hotel is also seeking a ‘host’ concierge to manage guests’ requirements from arrival to departure – this has echoes of the W London’s quirky approach to staff recruitment.
For anyone looking to do a jobsearch in London’s luxury hotel business, the opening of 45 Park Lane represents an exciting opportunity. The full range of jobs in London can be viewed on the 45 Park Lane careers website.
