We’ve already revealed how the outdoor Wood Deck at The Montague on the Gardens will be transformed into a central London Alpine ski lodge throughout December – a sort of apres-ski bar without the ski.
Now we’ve even had a sneak preview of the festive atmosphere thanks to a party attended by London Hotels Insight and other bloggers recently. As you can see from the pictures, the hotel’s staff certainly didn’t hold back in providing us with an early dose of the Christmas spirit! The friendly staff at the Montague pulled out all the stops to make the dress rehearsal of the Montague’s “apres ski bar” an absolute cracker of an evening!
The “winter wonderland” we saw with our own eyes was decorated with snow, pine trees and twinkling Christmas fairy lights – in fact, throughout the evening, it was hard to imagine that we were in the heart of Bloomsbury and just a stone’s throw from the British Museum!
When it opens to the public in December, the Montague ski lodge will be centred around a vodka bar. The expert mixologists at the boutique London hotel beavered away during the party, blending festive flavours such as cranberry, cinnamon and spiced apple to serve up a real treat.
A group of party guests even spontaneously invented the “Jaffa Cake” – a combo of the chocolate and orange vodkas which were two of the most popular choices during the evening (created simply by following-up a swig of one with a gulp of the other!). It was utterly delicious!
If, after all that vodka, you need a little something to soak it up, the hotel’s outdoor BBQ – usually so popular in the summer months – will also be alight. It will serve up seasonal nibbles like bratwurst, mini turkey burgers and roasted chestnuts, a selection of which we tasted during the party.Freshly-grilled nibbles with a festive flavour perfectly complement the vodka at the Montague’s apres-ski bar – the ideal venue for an unforgettable xmas party!
And if you think you’ll need a little more than a BBQ to keep you warm outdoors in London’s chilliest month, never fear. There’ll be big woolly rugs to keep guests snug, and you can combat the cold with mulled wine and mugs of steaming hot chocolate. Absolute heaven.
