Top 10 favourite London hotel Flickr photos.

by Rajul on September 11, 2012

Here at London Hotels Insight, we have an ever growing collection of photographs of hotels that we’re adding all the time to our Flickr account, all of which we’ve personally visited.  From beautiful afternoon teas to sleek interior design, our London hotel Flickr account covers a wide range of wonderful features across 16 hotels – and it’s growing all the time.

We’ve listed some of our favourites below in no particular order:

1. Montague on the Gardens

This mesmerising image of an ornate ceiling and chandelier which we took on a recent visit represents the fine attention to detail at the Montague on the Gardens (also one of London’s most pet friendly hotels as the pic of this dog statue also published on our Flickr account implies).  We’ve visited the hotel several times and our Flickr set reflects this including pics as wide-ranging as its Alpine “ski lodge” event, summer garden party and our visit to test the free WiFi at the Montague on the Gardens.

2. Baglioni London Hotel

This above image shows in stunning clarity The Baglioni’s stylish Italian design which extends to the premium Oritigia toiletries provided in its luxury London suites.  Full of Italian charm and opulent décor and given a five star review recently by LHI blogger Jules, it offers a discreetly elegant stay opposite Kensington Gardens.  As featured on our blog, the hotel’s Brunello Bar & Restaurant also serves some inventive bespoke Italian cocktails.  Feel free to check out further images from our Baglioni London Flickr set.

3. Rubens at the Palace

Afternoon tea at The Rubens was recently reviewed by LHI blogger Jules, who said: “The sweets, scones, and sandwiches were all appetising, fresh, and delicious – truly a majestic experience”.  It’s among the best London afternoon teas and probably one of the most underrated hidden gems too, enjoyed right opposite the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace!

4. Tune Hotel Liverpool Street

At first glance, this may seem a rather ordinary photo from our behind the scenes visit soon after the hotel opened but the devil is in the detail.  Firstly, note the growing trees in the background, designed to provide shade in the future and producing lovely oxygen for guests to enjoy.  This shows great confidence and long-range planning on the part of one of the cheapest and newest Liverpool Street hotels.  Second, it’s unusual to find such an extensive outdoor courtyard space in a central London budget hotel – an area for guests to meet friends, enjoy some snacks and chill out.

5. The Lanesborough Hotel

The above is another somewhat quirky pic chosen from one of our many visits to one of London’s most exclusive and luxurious hotels.  We visited after the Lanesborough celebrated it’s 20th anniversary last December and this image illustrates how an “old world” hotel can be both elegant and modern as we found during our free WiFi touchdown which was when the above pic was taken.  This combination of the classic and new is incredibly apt – particularly when so many other expensive London hotels choose to inconvenience their guests with startling WiFi charges.

6. The Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel

Check rates at the Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel

The Chesterfield Mayfair is one of the most intimate luxury boutique London hotels and we love its many tiny noticeable touches reflecting how its staff have fun in finding generous ways to make guests happy.  This photo of the gingerbread house above which is crafted every year and displayed in the lobby during the festive season is a typical example, discovered when we visited for our free WiFi touchdown.  Do see some of our other Chesterfield Mayfair pics on Flickr including the gorgeous Stanhope Suite.

7. The May Fair Hotel

The fact that the above bed at The May Fair is distinctively round is wonderful and evocative of decadent 80s glamour…no wonder so many celebs like to stay there and it’s one of the coolest London hotels.  Our May Fair Flickr set also has pics of the hotel’s huge penthouse suite.

8. Apex City of London Hotel

Check rates at Apex City of London

Apex Hotels have a different duck in residence (free for guests to take home!) at each hotel and we met several of them snapped above during our visit to test the free WiFi at Apex City of London.  The Apex duck is one of several mascots you’ll discover in London’s hotels and we have photos of quite a few others on our London hotel mascots board on Pinterest.

9. Radisson Blu Edwardian Mercer Street Hotel

Check rates at Mercer Street Hotel

The above picture is the perfect summary of how chic and British anyone’s kitchen can be, with the fridge being incredibly swinging 60s London – very appropriate for a hotel in the heart of vibrant Covent Garden.  See how the quirky Mercer Street Hotel recently flew the flag for Britain!

10. Tune Hotel Kings Cross

Book direct with Tune Hotels at the best guaranteed rate

Whilst the photos we’ve selected focus mostly on design and quirky features, an aspect we all value in a hotel is friendliness which is not always related to the price paid.  A case in point is Tune Hotels which runs some of the cheapest hotels in Westminster, Paddington, Kings Cross and Liverpool Street and also employs some of the friendliest staff, as the above photo taken during our tour of Tune Kings Cross illustrates.

Almost 500 Flickr photos!

Our Flickr account now has nearly 500 photos from London hotels – mostly our own originals.  No other blog we know of goes to the trouble of visiting London hotels constantly to give readers exclusive insider access behind the scenes.  And we also host dozens of London hotel photos on Pinterest.

If you feel we should visit a particular London hotel then do let us know!
