Last month we told you about the return of the ski lodge at the Montague on the Gardens and a few days ago I went to the launch party too! On arrival I was surprised to see it already snowing – foam snow but it looked like the real thing and wet too so really got us into the apres-ski mood!
The Montague ski lodge is in the hotel’s pretty garden terrace and features Christmas trees, reindeer, snowmen, fairy lights and I’m pretty sure I spotted Santa too. At the party I sampled some of the hot winter Pimms but there is also hot spiced cider, hot chocolate and the more traditional mulled wine. My blog colleague tried some of the flavoured vodkas including the above peppermint and shortbread combination coupled with a delicate mango sorbet. The bar serves the 12 vodkas of Christmas and a couple of those will quickly get you into the Christmas spirit!
The apres-ski bar also had a big BBQ alongside, with chef who was serving up piping hot sausages and turkey burgers, whilst from the kitchen there was a regular procession of leek and cheese muffins along with a host of sweet treats which just kept on coming. When I first arrived at the party I was given a sparkling vodka shot (not for the faint-hearted!) along with some yummy spiced nuts. The whole area was cosy, warm and welcoming.
Staff are dressed in woolly Christmas jumpers and provide the trademark welcome you’d expect from this luxury boutique hotel near the British Museum known for its exceptional service (currently a top 10 TripAdvisor hotel). The ski lodge will officially open on 19th November and is particularly recommended for Christmas parties with a difference.
But it is already getting booked up quickly so if you do want to visit then make sure you buy your “ski pass” in advance. For further information, do check out the official webpage for the Montague Ski Lodge.
Do also enter this Facebook competition to win a free luxury night for two at the hotel, including a ski lodge pass and free bottle of vodka.
