We reported yesterday that The Dorchester has unveiled 22 new suites and now 51 Buckingham Gate has revealed its brand new cinema suite.
The suite was designed by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and clocks in at a whopping 1,832 square feet. It comes with two bedrooms, a dining room, kitchen, study and powder room – this could seriously be someone’s house and is probably bigger than many London apartments! 51 Buckingham Gate is already known for original thinking after its open air theatre last summer among other initiatives.
The design of the suite is based on the history of film and is inspired from movies across the world, in particular the 1940s and 1950s. One bedroom is modelled on Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth whilst the other rooms are based on artists such as Bimal Roy and Merchant Ivory from India. In the kitchen you will find inspiration from The Stepford Wives whilst the walls are covered in film prints, portraits, drawings and other key memorabilia.
What’s more, the Cinema Suite is kitted out in the most up-to-date technology with an 85 inch plasma cinema screen complete with 3D viewing and surround sound system preloaded with 300 movies, books and music – well they don’t call it a cinema suite for nothing! The suite is the second iconic suite launch for the hotel which last year launched the world’s first Jaguar suite which we’ve previously blogged about. Prices start from £5,100 per night which is slightly more expensive than a trip to the Odeon!
