Last week, the Red Carnation Hotels’ UK teams raised over £10,000 for charity with sponsored running, cycling and abseiling amongst the charitable activities. The main focus was to raise money for the fifth annual Hospitality Action Week (13 – 19 May 2013) which has run for over 170 years, supporting vulnerable people working in the hospitality sector.
The group’s UK hotels created fun events to raise money including: an international cook off at The Chesterfield Mayfair, a Great-Gatsby themed water-pistol shoot out and poker night at The Milestone, salsa dancing by the Rubens / Hotel 41 teams and a bingo night at Egerton House Hotel.
The week reached a crescendo on Sunday with a 10 mile walk, run or cycle between the six Red Carnation Hotels in London, beginning and ending at the Montague on the Gardens. Going even further, Mons Henningson, Deputy GM at The Chesterfield, abseiled down 18 floors of the Lancaster London to raise £200 for Springboard UK, which helps young, unemployed and disadvantaged people begin a successful career in hospitality.
Red Carnation Hotels Managing Director Jonathan Raggett said: “I’m really encouraged to see the entire RCH team wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity to raise money for such worthy causes. By getting creative and giving time, enthusiasm and money, we raised over £10,000 in one week which is a fantastic achievement. Let’s see if we can smash it again next year.”
