We recently checked out the swanky new Radio Bar at ME London as part of our blog’s mission to keep you updated on the very best London hotel bars. As we discovered, not only is the bar in a stunning 10th floor setting but has a pretty original range of cocktails, wine and nibbles too.
On a clear day, you have gorgeous, panoramic views across London from the heart of the Strand, reaching across to the Shard as well as Piccadilly Circus. Though it was somewhat cloudy and overcast when we visited recently, that didn’t stop us from having a fantastic time.
I particularly enjoyed my signature London Horizon (Bombay sapphire, green tea cordial, lemongrass and lemon) which had a lovely acidic bite to it and was skilfully suggested by our hostess when I mentioned that I didn’t want anything too sweet. The caipirinha taken later was just as well balanced and satisfyingly zesty.
My companion’s glass of Antinori Torcicoda Primitivo red wine was apparently just as good.
You can always tell the quality of the bar by the signature drinks. Next time I have my eye on ME Loves You (tanqueray 10, elderflower, cucumber and bitter lemon) or the appropriately-named Mile High Margarita (cuervo gold, grand marnier, cranberry and lime).
We were especially seduced by the views and the bites, including a gorgeously sticky plate of chorizo in an Asian-inspired sweet paste that had us completely hooked (we re-ordered!).
Considering it was a Monday night, the place was buzzing with a good, almost Ibiza-esque vibe with its relaxing chill-out music in the background. It is a super vantage point from which to enjoy the sunset over London, particularly on the comfy sofas out on the terrace.
