London already has more attractions than you can shake a set of Christmas jingle bells at. But there is always a new bar, restaurant or attraction opening in the capital. The only thing with these ones is you have to get there quick, as they’re only popping up for the winter season. Here’s our round up of the best winter pop ups in hotels around London…

An Alpine retreat at The Churchill – sadly currently closed due to the recent gas explosion at the hotel on 22nd November 2014 – we’ve left the details below in case they reopen it in 2015 (we hope so!).

The Churchill hotel’s ultra-glamorous alfresco terrace on Portman Square has been transformed into an alpine winter scene, complete with fake snow, fur-lined seats, pine trees and twinkly lanterns.

Blankets and hot water bottles are on hand to keep the winter chill at bay. But, best of all, there’s a specially-curated Green & Black’s chocolate cocktail menu. Try the Egg Nog, a mix of fresh chilli and ginger stirred with milk, double cream, sugar and bourbon before being topped with white chocolate foam. It’s the perfect white Christmas! NB Closed in 2014.

A Cosy Cabin at York & Albany

Back for another year after proving so popular last time, the York & Albany’s winter cabin in the Primrose Hill hotel’s courtyard is themed like an upmarket hunting lodge, complete with lots of tartan, tweed and taxidermy.

There’s a warming drinks menu featuring buttered-rum hot chocolate topped with marshmallows, mulled wine and spiced Bloody Marys. A British-led food menu is equally delicious, including wild boar sausages and venison sausage rolls. You can hire the cabin for exclusive use only. It’s the perfect fit for groups of around eight.

Sky high at DoubleTree by Hilton

DoubleTree by Hilton have been inspired by the hunter-gatherer lifestyle of the Vikings with its latest pop-up at the Tower of London Skylounge.

Night views from the Sky Lounge Bar

You’ll find flame-grilled meat served up with spiced drinks and Snow Queen vodka expertly mixed into winter cocktails. The Hilton is even providing faux furs to keep its customers warm while they gaze out onto the London skyline.

Apres ski at Montague on the Gardens

London’s original ski lodge experience has returned at Montague on the Gardens.

The hotel’s Garden Grill has been transformed into a ski lodge, with pine trees, falling snow, reindeer, snowmen, piste maps and strings of fairy lights. At the bar, you can choose from mulled wine, winter Pimms, hot spiced cider or mugs of steaming hot chocolate. Big woolly rugs are provided to keep you snug on winter nights. A pass to the ski lodge costs £25 and includes a mini turkey burger, bratwurst, deep fried camembert and three drinks.

Magical movies at One Aldwych

Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without watching a schmaltzy festive movie or two.

Check rates at One Aldwych

And this Christmas, One Aldwych in Covent Garden is holding Film & Fizz nights. You can enjoy a three-course dinner or weekend brunch in its Axis restaurant, followed by a film in the hotel’s private screening room and a class of Lallier Grand Crue Grande Réserve Brut. Movies include Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life.

All of these are incredible pop-up events that make a stay in London feel even more special this winter.
