More London hotels get down to business.

Heathrow Airport says that in 2013, 30% of their passengers were travelling on business. Gatwick meanwhile reckons that 1 in 5 (20%) of their passengers are business people. And that’s just those that travel by air.

Many of London’s hotels are constantly striving to provide for this significant percentage of business travellers. Over the last year and in the coming year, new hotels and refurbishments have created and will create innovative new spaces for both groups and individual business people.

This year, the Pullman St Pancras opened its Business Playground and the Marriott Kensington updated its conference rooms for ultimate connectivity, flexibility and creativity.

The Holiday Inn Heathrow updated its bedrooms to better provide for business travellers, while Red Carnation began offering perks for women in business.

Late next year another another hotel will be setting up top-notch business facilities, as the InterContinental London – The O2 opens adjacent to the O2.

The 453-bedroom hotel will have a conference centre with 20 multi-functional meeting rooms and a 3,000sqm pillar-free ballroom. As one of the largest single-event spaces in a European hotel, the ballroom will hold up to 3,000 delegates. The hotel will also be the largest in Greenwich.

The InterContinental London – The O2 isn’t the only hotel laying claims to being the best and biggest. Park Inn by Radisson London Heathrow has recently opened their new Aviator conference rooms, which they say have the largest capacity in Heathrow for residential conferences.

After a refurbishment, the hotel now has 41 conference rooms and 26 syndicate rooms, each of which is named after a pioneer of flight and decorated on the same theme with Warhol-style pop art.

There are sure to be more refurbishments and new hotel business facilities as establishments bring their offerings in line with the expectations of the modern business traveller; and as ever more flexible ways to work become the norm.
