Seafood is just perfect for the spring and summer months.
Fresh flavours and light meals are ideal for perking us up after all the comfort food we gorged on over winter. And since we’re an island nation, we have plenty of fresh fish to enjoy. But we don’t eat enough of it and a lot of our seafood goes onto the plates of people on the continent instead.
If you’re a fan of seeing food and eating it, try out some of these stunning seafood restaurants, right inside some of London’s top hotels.
South Place Hotel
The Angler restaurant and rooftop terrace are two of the best places for seafood in the capital.
The Michelin-starred restaurant is headed up by Executive Chef Tony Fleming, whose passion for seafood shines through in his menus. Anyone who wants some fresh air while they enjoy their fresh fish can sit on the terrace, designed with a Provençal theme in mind. Among the lavender, herbs and olive trees, guests can enjoy the evening sun.
The Savoy’s seafood offering is named after their resident cat statue.
Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill was the hotel’s newest food offering until recently. The art deco restaurant takes diners back to the jazz age as they enjoy the seafood menu. An oyster bar is the focus of the room, serving Jersey rock oysters and of course plenty of champagne and fine wine to go with them. The grill side of the bar also serves lamb, roast spatchcock and burgers for anyone who isn’t feeling the seafood, or wants a little surf and turf.
Nathan Outlaw has had great success with seafood in Cornwall, where his restaurant has two Michelin stars.
He holds another at Outlaw’s at The Capital, where most of the seafood is sourced off the Cornish coast. The menu changes with the seasons to keep food sustainable. You can currently enjoy their spring menu, including delights like crab risotto and breaded hake with asparagus, leeks and wild garlic. On Thursdays (lunch and dinner), you can bring your own bottles of wine.
Andaz Liverpool Street
For an intimate and refined place to enjoy the catch of the day, head to Catch Champagne Bar and Lounge at Andaz Liverpool Street.
Their speciality Bellinis and light bites menu with a seafood focus is perfect alongside the offering of over 70 champagnes. Nibble on herbed seared tuna, fish sliders or oysters. Go for a ’70s classic with a prawn cocktail or enjoy a smoked salmon & cream cheese sandwich. For those not in the mood for seafood, there are non-fishy options, from green olives to ham hock.
There’s no need to look any further if you’re looking for delicious seafood in London. Stay in one of these hotels and you don’t even need to leave to get a little fishy on your little dishy.
