Since summer isn’t too far away (apparently), London’s hotels are gearing up for this year’s pop-up food and drink offerings. The London Marriott Hotel Park Lane has got in early with a rooftop picnic area.
Because this is 2015, the new pop-up is called #Roofnic – a name that both smashes two words together and uses a hashtag. The warmer weather is perfect for having a picnic, and the location of this venue allows you to do so while you look out over Park Lane, Oxford Street and the surrounding area.
The hotel has taken the picnic theme to provide a green space with a summer feeling. They offer a sunny spot for after-work drinks, lunches and picnics on their rooftop terrace. Only open since May 23rd, it’s already becoming a hotspot during the warmer evenings as the days get longer.
There are herbs and flowers adorning the terrace, with a marquee providing dangling light bulbs for when the sun’s feeling shy. The picnic concept shows in their offerings of food and drink, with small plates from tacos and sandwiches to salads and desserts.
Drinks-wise, you can enjoy a healthy juice, sip on a cocktail or refresh yourself with a craft beer from Camden Brewery. One of the menu highlights is another portmanteau – the Manwich, a super sized sandwich with pulled pork.
Other offerings range from a crustless salmon and spinach feta quiche to crispy prawn steamed buns. Tasty…
You can access the rooftop pop-up from a hidden entrance at the back of the hotel on Oxford Street, where you’ll find a staircase leading to the roof. It’s open every day of the week from 10am to 10pm, so it’s perfect for a snack or drink at any time of the day.
