Cycling as a hobby has experienced a boom in recent years, ever since the 2012 Olympics ignited a passion in it for so many. But if you’re brave enough to cycle in London, where are the best places for enthusiasts to stay?
Whether you have your own bike with you or you want to hire one, there are several bike-friendly hotels in London. They can offer cycling maps, bike storage and even their own bicycles to take for a spin.
Try one of these top hotels keen to support cyclists around London…
The Ace Hotel
At The Ace Hotel, you can go on a tour with tokyobikes, who will take you around London for three hours.
The tours take place monthly, but don’t worry if you won’t be around for one.
You can also use the hotel’s special Bed and Bike tour to get £20 per person to spend at their eating and drinking options, plus access to a bike for your stay, a cycling map of London and a 15% discount on Ally Capellino bike bags. Or if you have your own wheels, you can keep them in your room.
The Qbic Hotel London City have complimentary bikes to take around the town too. They work with a local charity, Bikeworks, who have provided them with five recycled bikes and helmets for guests to use.
They’ve also designed three London cycling routes for guests to easily access from the hotel and work with Bikeworks to help get people cycling and deliver social and environmental schemes to disadvantaged people.
The Nadler Kensington
At The Nadler in Kensington, you can go straight to reception to buy tickets for a Fat Tire Bike Tour.
The tour operator offers two options every day, which are the Royal London Tour and the River Thames Tour. The hotel reception will also provide you with a helmet to protect your noggin. Or if you like, you can ask for a helmet and set off around the corner to find a Barclays Boris bike. Discover London your own way with the freedom a bike gives you.
If you prefer to have your own bike with you, many hotels allow you to keep it in your room, and some even have their own storage. Just contact the hotel you’re interested in and ask them about storing your bike.
