The Hoxton only opened their second London property in 2014, following their Shoreditch hotel with one in Holborn. But already they’re gearing up for a third one, due to open in 2018.
The third addition will be in Southwark (Blackfriars Road) where the group has just received planning permission. The 192-bedroom property will be across 14 storeys and will be built in the space left by Wedge House, a former social security office which will soon be demolished.
Property developer Derwent London is in charge of the project, partnering with Ennismore Capital, the private equity group that owns Hoxton.
There will be a restaurant on the ground floor and a bar on the top floor, both run by Soho House, which operates the eateries at the other two Hoxton hotels in London. There will also be Hoxton’s meeting and events space, The Apartment, just like in their existing London properties. The development will be mixed-use, with an additional 42,000 square feet of office space.
Sharan Pasricha, Founder and CEO of Ennismore/The Hoxton said: “Southwark is an incredibly exciting part of London. South of the river is where we chose as home for our third London property because we’re big fans of the neighbourhood, especially the theatre and food scene and we’re looking forward to growing up alongside it.
“We chose to work with Derwent London as they have re-imagined some amazing buildings in London and we’re continually impressed by their work.”
Hoxton’s first international property opens in just a few weeks on July 6th in Amsterdam, with more coming in New York and Paris in the next two years. So they’ll be averaging one hotel opening a year from 2014 to 2018.
It will be a few years before we see their latest London hotel, but it will be interesting to see how the Southwark property compares to the two other London hotels in the budget boutique brand.
