There can be no better time for a cocktail than the middle of summer. Although the weather hasn’t quite been holding up, we’ve had some lovely days and there’s still time to get outside for a cocktail in the sun.
While there are plenty of cocktails you can enjoy all year, it’s much more fun to sample one that’s been formulated especially for summer. If you’re looking for something bright and summery to sip on, try these new additions to the menu at some of London’s top hotels…
The Ace Hotel
The new summer concoctions at the Ace Hotel have been created with the help of The Pressery, who are London’s champions of natural almond milk.
The two brands have worked together to mix some refreshing cocktails, designed by the hotel’s bar manager, Nathan Merriman. These cocktails are less fruity and tropical and more like hard iced coffees.
Using coffee beans from Bulldog Edition, the hotel’s coffee shop, and The Pressery’s almond milk, they’ve put together alcoholic iced coffees, featuring ingredients from apple brandy to rum. And if you’re hungry, there are almond donuts on offer too. We are definitely tempted!
Four Seasons Park Lane
Apart from their Wimbledon cocktails, Four Seasons on Park Lane has three more drinks for summer. Their Amaranto bar is serving some refreshing cocktails made with ingredients synonymous with the British summer.
The first is the Summer Cup, with strawberries, raspberries and basil topped with crush ice and mixed with Tanqueray gin, crème de mure, vanilla sugar, lime juice and ginger ale.
The Italian Job takes inspiration from Italy, mixing Aperol, prosecco, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, mint, sugar and grapefruit. Finally, you can have a Summery-ta, a floral take on a Margarita.
Town Hall Hotel
At the Town Hall Hotel, this year’s summer cocktails are inspired by festival season. The five cocktails, designed for the hotel’s bar Peg + Patriot, are each inspired by and named after a festival, both in the UK and abroad.
There’s one for Benicassim in Spain, Wilderness Festival, Glastonbury, Burning Man and Lovebox Festival, which is held in Victoria Park. The cocktails take inspiration from the flavours and spirit of the festivals to create drinks evocative of their atmospheres.
If you’re looking for a summery tipple, you’ve got plenty of choice this year. Try all these seasonal cocktails before the summer is over.
