For many people, Christmas is all about the food. Turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes and more are all part of Christmas Day. But who wants to spend the whole day slaving over a hot stove?

If you don’t fancy putting in all the work to make your Christmas dinner, getting someone else to make it is a much better idea. You get the whole day to relax instead, and you can commit yourself to being merry. Try one of these top London hotels to have your meal, and perhaps stay in over Christmas too…

The Mandarin Oriental

You can have your traditional turkey and trimmings at the Mandarin Oriental’s Bar Boulud if you want. But it’s not the main focus of their Christmas menu.

Their set three-course menu includes squash soup, house-smoked salmon, Swiss chard and ricotta ravioli and a white truffle risotto. Stay in the hotel with their “A Very Harrods Christmas” package. It includes a welcome gift and presents, including the 2015 Harrods teddy bear, and a VIP appointment with the Harrods Gift Bureau.

Mondrian London

If you’re looking for a Christmas dinner in 1920s cruiseship inspired style, head to Sea Containers at the Mondrian. You can guarantee the food will be much better than it was in the ’20s!

Choices from their Christmas menu include a wood roasted celeriac soap, sea bream with a citrus herb salad, and a blood orange sorbet. And, of course, there’s the traditional turkey.  Get your four-course lunch included in your stay when you choose the hotel’s Christmas package.

Christmas is a big deal at Claridge’s, as you can tell from their fancy Burberry “tree” (it’s made of umbrellas, obviously).

Simon Rogan’s Fera restaurant will be dishing up everything from lobster to turkey, lamb and Christmas pudding.  Or you can enjoy your Christmas dinner in the French Drawing Room and Salon, with a duck terrine, a halibut fillet and a charred apple and chestnut financier. Book two nights at the hotel and you’ll get a bottle of champagne and festive treats in your room.

There’ll be children’s storytelling on Christmas Eve, and you can even take a horse-drawn carriage ride around Mayfair.

Christmas should be relaxing and fun, not stressful. So put your feet up for once (although maybe not on the chairs in Claridge’s) and let someone else prepare your Christmas dinner.
