Shopping on your hotel doorstep with Travelodge’s plans.

A great value hotel shopping package is a brilliant way to enjoy all the shops and markets London has to offer, especially at this time of year. Travelodge has plans for two London hotels that could help you get even more up close with your favourite stores.

Travelodge has recently signed contracts for three hotels in shopping centres, including two in London. Guests will soon be able to stay right in the heart of The Mall in Wood Green or The Mall in Bromley. While these locations aren’t central, they put you close to hundreds of store.

You’ll be able to step out of your hotel and have everything from fashion to sports and craft supplies at your fingertips. While you won’t be running into designer brands around every corner, you’ll certainly be able to grab some bargains and make some perfect purchases.

The Wood Green Travelodge will have 78 rooms and the Bromley hotel will have 58 bedrooms in total.

Assuming they gain planning permission, they should open in 2017.

Travelodge’s Paul Harvey said that opening hotels in shopping centres “helps shopping centres generate income and increase footfall by developing empty office space, the top of low-rise buildings and car parks.”

While the concept might help to fill empty space, as Travelodge has in cities such as Manchester and Sheffield, there’s not much space to fill in central London. If you want to shop on Oxford Street or find fancy designers in Knightsbridge and Mayfair, you’d have more luck with a boutique hotel.

Many of them are just a few feet from some of the most famous brands, as well as independent shops and markets.

The Travelodge plans are still a while away from coming to fruition. But perhaps by Christmas 2017, you’ll be able to get all your gift shopping done right outside your hotel’s front door.
