If you heard the news that the Oxford Dictionaries word of 2015 was in fact not a word, but the “crying laughing” emoji, this next bit of information might not surprise you very much. You can now use emojis to order room service at Aloft London Excel.
The service is now available at the Docklands hotel, as well as the Aloft in Liverpool. The room service menu is called Aloft TiGi, which stands for Text It, Get It. It’s the first emoji-based room service menu in the world – and who’s to say if it’s also the last?
Using the text service, guests can select from several room service packages by simply sending a couple of emojis. No more of that time-consuming using real words and proper sentences stuff.
The packages include The Sightseer, which has two bottles of water, two bananas, and an official London Guide Book, represented by a landscape emoji. You can also get The Hangover (a water drop, a burger and a banana), which includes two bottles of water, a bacon roll and a banana.
The hotel’s W XYZ Bar will also have an emoji-inspired menu for a limited time. From January 4th to February 20th, they’ll have emoji-themed cocktails and snacks. Plus, an emoji slot machine game will be available both online and in the RE:MIX Lounge.
If expressing yourself with words is just too much effort, emoji room service is the perfect solution. Just as long as you’re not drunk texting, or who knows what you could end up ordering.
