The Savoy’s American Bar promotes their new menu with a silent film.

The Savoy might be seen as the pinnacle of timeless elegance in the hotel world. But they’re not afraid to keep up with the times – while maintaining their air of luxury, of course. Their new menu in the American Bar shows that they’re always ready to celebrate both change and London’s history.

The new menu, called The London Menu, has been put together to celebrate six London boroughs surrounding The Savoy. It features cocktails that take their inspiration from Westminster, the City, Tower Hamlets, Islington, Camden and Hackney. The London Menu also has a short film to promote it, and specifically one cocktail, the Pickering Place.

Pickering Place is the last-known site in London where a duel took place.

But The Savoy’s amusing silent movie is only inspired by the location, as well as the drinking habits of Frank Sinatra, who favoured the American Bar when he was in London. As you can see from the video, the Pickering Place is actually two drinks you can share. Or you could have them both to yourself! You can watch the video below…

The new cocktail menu includes more drinks inspired by the famous buildings and landmarks surrounding The Savoy.

One is a take on the hotel’s oldest cocktail recipe, the Green Park, interpreted by head bartender Erik Lorincz. There’s also the Abbey Road, and a cocktail inspired by the Olympic Park.

They don’t all focus on a specific landmark, however. The Punk Rock cocktail takes its inspiration from London’s music scene. Each of the six boroughs has four cocktails, and all of them are accompanied by a hand-drawn illustration by artist Joe Wilson.

The new drinks were revealed on 19th January 2016, so you can go in and enjoy one anytime. You’ll even find virgin cocktails if you don’t fancy alcohol. We love this playful homage to London’s history.
