Some people like to hit things to let off some steam, whereas others prefer to do some deep breathing. Thanks to a new fitness class at two London hotels, you don’t have to choose between the two.
YogaBox combines the relaxing discipline of yoga with high-intensity boxing moves. The new workout is now available at both Bermondsey Square Hotel and La Suite West. Beginning just last week at both hotels, the fitness class is a fushion of the two types of workout that aims to get you sweating and help you stretch. At the same time, it’s a workout for your mind and overall well-being.
Each class has two instructors and a maximum of just 14 participants, who can be both hotel guests and non-guests.
So each person attending can be sure they’ll get the specialised attention they need during the session. The class starts with boxing, for a fun and intense way to burn calories and build endurance. Yoga then gives everyone time to recover as they stretch and allow their bodies to restore. The yoga section also includes meditation and deep breathing, so everyone can catch their breath, as well as improve their focus and calm down.
Each 60-minute class can burn up to 1,000 calories and help to improve tone and flexibility. The concept was developed by Chris Baugh (a boxer) and Will Wheeler (a yoga instructor). They each bring their own skills and knowledge to their classes, which they have developed over years of practice. Baugh is a professional boxer with 21 years in various combat sports under his belt, while Wheeler has been around the world training in the art of yoga.
You can join one of the classes at Bermondsey Square Hotel or La Suite West.
You’ll find it in Bermondsey Square’s Abbey function room on Mondays at 6.15pm and 7.30pm. Or you can go to La Suite West at 6.15pm every Tuesday. Each session costs £15.
