Checking up on London’s latest hotel pop-ups.

We love a good pop-up here at London Hotels Insight. Sure, they might only stick around for a few months at most, but they’re nearly always doing something fun and innovative. Plus, they usually serve food and drink.

Most pop-ups start to appear in the summer, when hotels can use their outside spaces to host temporary bars and restaurants. But there are still a few popping up for the spring too. Here are some happening right now…

Kit and Ace at The Mondrian

A lot of pop-ups tend to be food and drink-oriented, but this one from Canadian brand Kit and Ace isn’t.

They’re taking their pop-up, named The Carry On, to different luxury hotels around the world. It’s already been to San Francisco and LA, and it’s just arrived in London. Until April 20th 2016, guests at The Mondrian will be able to browse the brand’s products. But what do they even sell, you ask. Clothing! If you want to buy something new without leaving your hotel and you like a comfortable-but-smart look, a stay at The Mondrian just might be in order.

RAW Wine at London Edition

Mmm..wine. If you prefer your pop-ups a bit more boozy, London Edition will be hosting a vino pop-up in May.

It will be hosted by Isabelle Legaron MW, the founder of the RAW natural wine fair. The bar will serve over 100 wines, with many available by the glass. And for the peckish attendees, there’ll be cheese and charcuterie – because what’s the point of wine without cheese and meat? The pop-up will be at the hotel May 4th-16th 2016, while RAW takes place May 15th-16th at Truman Brewery.

The Dorchester at the Chelsea Flower Show

This one isn’t so much a pop-up at a hotel as it is a hotel taking a pop-up somewhere else. The Dorchester will be serving afternoon tea in a pop-up at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Their temporary restaurant will have an exclusive menu, designed by the hotel’s head pastry chef, David Girard, and designer florist, Philip Hammond. The Dorchester usually has an afternoon tea created for the show, but this will be the first year they take the tea on location. You can get the special menu from May 24th to May 28th 2016 and buy your tickets in advance. Of course, you can also get the afternoon tea at the hotel in The Promenade.

There are always exciting new pop-ups appearing around London, and hopefully we’ll see many more in the warmer months.
