Summer is the season of rooftop pop-ups, and we saw plenty of them last year. The London Marriott Hotel Park Lane is getting a jump on theirs this year, launching it on May 5th.
Last year the hotel’s Roofnic bar was a success, so they’re back in 2016 with a new concept. This time, they’re turning Japanese with a pop-up called Notch. The bar and restaurant will serve Japanese street food from their Fudo Shack kitchen. On the drink’s front, there will be Negronis, schooners of craft beer, bags of wine, and cocktails.
For a bit of fun, the pop-up will have swings looking out over the rooftops.
Some of the Japanese-inspired dishes on the menu will include Sashimi Pizza, spicy buffalo wings, and short rib steamed buns.
Fans of brunch can visit on Saturdays and Sundays, and there are sweet treats for dessert lovers too. Cocktails are largely based on rum, tequila, and gin – which is very popular this year – for a summery feel. For something gimmicky, you can get a tuna can (presumably not one that has had tuna in it) filled with a Negroni, Old Fashioned, or an Adonis.
The pop-up, which has space for 100 people, will be open from 10am to 10pm until the end of September. With the days getting longer, there’ll be lots of sunlight to enjoy before you move on to finish your evening elsewhere. After work drinks in the summer are one of the best things about the season, especially when you get to be outside. Notch will be open 7 days a week, so if you don’t have time during the week there’s always the weekend.
While the Marriott Park Lane’s rooftop pop-up isn’t the first one of the year, we could call it the first one of the summer – or the spring. There are sure to be at least a few more as the weather (hopefully) gets warmer.
