Now that it’s the summer holidays, parents everywhere are looking for fun days out. You’re never too young to enjoy the tradition of afternoon tea, especially when there are menus designed just for the kids.

Some London hotels have separate prices for children, and perhaps some kids’ drinks. But others go the whole hog and give them a special menu. Try out one of our favourites this summer for a fun treat…

Grosvenor House

Grosvenor House recently won an award for their children’s afternoon tea menu. They were awarded Best Family Friendly Afternoon Tea at the Afternoon Tea Awards for their Grover’s Tea Time menu.

The menu features not just a selection of treats for children, but a list of teas too. Many other children’s afternoon tea menus assume that kids don’t want to drink tea, but at Grosvenor House, they can join in with drinking the national drink. However, they do offer some child-friendly flavours, such as Apple Strudel and Mango and Strawberry. All children get to take home a stuffed Grover, the hotel’s bulldog mascot.

Dorset Square Hotel

At Dorset Square Hotel, you can try their Children’s Afternoon Tea in the restaurant, The Potting Shed. Kids get the chance to decorate their own cupcake, adding icing and toppings to their heart’s content.

For just £12 per child, they also get a selection of sandwiches, including ham, cheese, and peanut butter and jam. Sweet treats include scones, fruit skewers dipped in chocolate, and a chocolate sprinkle cake. To drink, they can enjoy a hot chocolate, milkshake or fruit juice.

Claridge’s

Children’s afternoon tea at Claridge’s is more of a traditional affair, but there are still treats for the little ones. The beautiful menu doubles up as a colouring book to keep them quiet as they’re eating.

The menu features a selection of traditional sandwiches and pastries include childhood favourites, such as vanilla cupcakes and chocolate brownies. At £28 per child, it’s a little dearer than some other menus, but then it is Claridge’s…

You can find more children’s afternoon tea menus, as well as reduced prices for kids at many other hotels in London. If the little ones deserve a treat, take them out for afternoon tea this summer.
