London has an incredibly rich history, and exploring it is a great way to spend your time in the city. If you don’t fancy a museum or historical attraction, you can always find an interesting event.
If you love local history, Tune Hotels is hosting an event with the Museum of London Archaeology on the 8th and 9th of September 2016. The Time Truck will be visiting Bishop’s Square in Tower Hamlets to showcase some fascinating artefacts found by the MOLA at Tune Hotel Liverpool Street.
The collection of objects includes tea sets, table wares, clay tobacco pipes, and blacking bottles for shoe polishing.
They come from the 18th and 19th centuries and give us insight into the lives of the local people during those periods. The artefacts will be displayed with images, maps and photographs to provide extra context and bring the story of Spitalfields‘ development to life.
Tune is celebrating this excellent event by offering a 15% discount at their Liverpool Street hotel until January. Quote “TCCMOLA” when you book to receive your lower price. Liverpool Street is the first Tune Hotel in the UK to introduce their new breakfast concept, so don’t forget to stay for brekkie before you head home.
Tune is also supporting the public and school programme at Bishop’s Square.
Local primary schools will be taking part in workshops in the mornings of the 8th and 9th. They will be excavating dig boxes and getting a chance to hold archaeological objects from the MOLA’s collection. The Time Truck will be open to the public from 12pm until 4pm.
Head to Bishop’s Square in Tower Hamlets to learn some local history that was found right on the site of Tune Hotel Liverpool Street. Book your room at the hotel and you can get a great value room nearby too.
