You won’t be able to stop HARPing on about these great afternoon teas in London hotels, which are all accompanied by classical music. Here are some of our favourites, featuring harp, piano, and maybe the odd string setup. Naturally, they’re all quite posh…

The Waldorf Hilton

The harp has to be one of the most relaxing instruments to accompany your afternoon tea. It’s sure to improve the flavour of your tea and sandwiches.

So you’ll love the relaxing sounds of classic tunes from The Waldorf’s resident harpist on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. As is fitting of an afternoon tea accompanied by a harpist, The Waldorf Hilton’s menu is traditional and served in their beautiful Homage restaurant with chandeliers and iconic pillars.

Conrad London St James

The Conrad London St James has a slightly different take on what afternoon tea with a harpist should look like.

Both the music and the menu are more contemporary. The harpist plays unique classical interpretations of modern hits, while the menu is playful and ever-changing. The setting of Emmeline’s lounge has radical roots too, named after suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst.

The Savoy

If you’re looking for an afternoon tea with a pianist, it’s tough to beat The Savoy’s Thames Foyer.

The pianist entertains guests from the winter garden gazebo as they enjoy finger sandwiches, scones and seasonal cakes and pastries. The Foyer’s glass dome lets in plenty of natural light to brighten up the space.

The Ritz

Naturally, The Ritz has to take things further with their classical music offering.

Not satisfied with a mere single pianist or harpist, they have a string quintet playing contemporary tunes. When they don’t have the full quintet, they have a harpist or pianist. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, they also have soprano Miranda Heldt. Of course, their musical offerings are outshone only by their traditional setting and menu.

If you like relaxing music with your afternoon tea, try one of the above options for traditional and contemporary classical tunes.
