The Lanesborough reopened last year, revealing a spectacular renovation that began in 2013. It may have only been open for just over a year, but its restaurant Céleste has already picked up its first Michelin star.

The Michelin Guide 2017 has just been released, with Céleste and The Ritz both gaining their first star. For The Ritz, the star has been a long time coming. The Ritz has a history of over a century but it’s only now that the restaurant has been given recognition by Michelin.

The Lanesborough’s Céleste restaurant offers European fine dining, with a modern and creative menu. It is headed up by Florian Favario and Eric Frechon, both of whom have earned Michelin stars before. Between them they now have 5 Michelin stars.

To celebrate the restaurant’s shiny new Michelin star, diners can book a promotional menu for a limited period.

Guests can enjoy 3 courses and a glass of champagne for £35 per person until January 6th 2017. Starters include brown crab royal and French onion soup, mains feature the likes of slow-cooked Scottish salmon and roasted quail, and for dessert, you can enjoy a Caraibes chocolate cocoa sponge or a blueberry light lemon mousse.

The Ritz Restaurant might have been waiting a long time for a Michelin star but the hotel and its drinking and dining options have had a superior reputation for a long time.

The dining room offers a lavish backdrop for the contemporary interpretations of classic French food created by Executive Chef John Williams, MBE. The restaurant features regular entertainment including Live at The Ritz, an evening of dinner and dancing on weekends.

Other London hotels retained their Michelin stars, including Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, Marcus at The Berkeley and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. Non-hotel restaurants that gained a first star include Veeraswamy, London’s oldest Indian restaurant.
