Is it still a little early for the dreaded C word? It might seem far away, but when you have to get ready, eight weeks isn’t all that much. One thing that can take the pressure off is booking yourself into a London hotel.
There can be a lot to organise at Christmas, from food to gifts. If you’d rather leave it to someone else, checking into a hotel is the way to go. London is a whole lot of fun around Christmas, from Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park to Christmas shopping. Some of the best hotels in the capital offer incredible packages for stays on and around Christmas Day.
Dukes has a few Christmas packages to choose from, so you can pick one that suits you and perhaps your family.
If you’re thinking of a stay in December but not necessarily Xmas, the Christmas Sparkle Package is available from December 14th-30th 2016. You’ll get a mulled wine or hot chocolate to warm you on arrival, plus a full English breakfast the next morning. If you’re visiting as a family in December or January, the Christmas Family Package includes a stay in a deluxe family suite, full English each morning and even a personal butler.
Finally, there’s The Ultimate Christmas Break over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It includes dinner on Christmas Eve, a trip to Midnight Mass, and goodies to put out for Father Christmas and his reindeer. The next morning, it’s all about food. Start the day with a full English, enjoy a sumptuous six-course lunch, and when you start to get peckish again in the evening, you can nibble on cheese along with a glass of wine.
The Beaumont bills their Christmas package as “totally relaxing”. It’s certainly a relief not to have to cook dinner.
The package includes a night’s stay on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, including a room upgrade if it’s available when you arrive. On the food side, you get a full English breakfast, as well as a three-course Christmas meal with Champagne in The Colony Grill Room.
There’s also mulled wine and mince pies to keep you warm. The package even includes a Christmas gift, so you have something to open guaranteed, as well as a tour of Mayfair in the hotel’s vintage Daimler. You also get a late checkout time of 2pm.
Covent Garden Hotel
Covent Garden Hotel’s package isn’t available on Christmas Eve, but it is one that stands out from others.
Their The Nutcracker Christmas Package gets you two tickets to The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House. It also comes with a Nutcracker-themed afternoon tea, welcome gift, full English breakfast, and late checkout. It’s available on December 6th, 8th, 27th, and 28th 2016. The ballet is a perfect treat for Christmas, with its classic tale.
Of course, there are many other delightful Christmas packages available in London. Wherever you choose to stay, don’t forget the presents!
