London’s gin hotel to open just in time for Christmas.

Earlier this year, Portobello Road Gin announced a new London venue, to include a number of boutique bedrooms. Pitched to open this month, it will be opening almost on time on December 14th 2016.

Gin has definitely been the tipple of the year, and for that we will blame the hipsters. Although it’s currently a very trendy drink, it has always been much-loved by Brits. Gin and tonic is a favourite summer drink – as well as being popular the rest of the year – and gin cocktails are well-loved too.

After the Rosewood London opened a whole bar dedicated to gin, the next obvious step was clearly a hotel. This hotel has just three rooms, however, so it doesn’t get much more exclusive.

The boutique bedrooms are on the top floor of The Distillery, the new venue at 186 Portobello Road. Each room has a minibar – presumably filled with gin – and a record player. On the same floor, there is also a private dining room named the Boardroom, as well as a bar.

Below the rooms, the GinTonica restaurant & bar celebrates the love for gin found in both Britain and Spain. The space is inspired by the Copa de Balon, a classic bowl-shaped gin glass as well as the humble G&T. The ground floor is the Resting Room, a bar serving gin and other spirits. There’ll be some impressive barrels hanging from the ceiling for you to ooh and aah at.

The Distillery will also be home to The Ginstitute, which offers gin-making courses. A gin museum shows visitors 300 years of gin history (ginstory?). And there’s a shop on site so you can have a bottle to take home.

The Distillery opens on December 14th, with the three rooms priced from £125 a night. If you like the sound of a gin-soaked stay, book quickly.
