As any good hipster knows, old things are cool. At least, until they get too popular. One thing that has enjoyed a revival in recent years is vinyl – in fact, even cassettes are popular in some circles. If you love a good record player, you don’t have to miss out when you’re travelling.
Turntables aren’t exactly the most portable of music players. While some travel better than others, they’re usually best left at home. If you miss yours when you’re away, you have a great choice of hotels in London that will make up for it. These London hotels all have rooms that provide you with a record player and a vinyl collection to play on it…
The Ace Hotel brand is an achingly cool one, and its London outpost is in Shoreditch. So, naturally, their rooms have record players.
Book a Superior Deluxe Double or any of the suites at Ace Hotel Shoreditch and your room will come complete with a Rega record player, plus a selection of vinyl. If you’re in a suite, you also get an acoustic guitar in case you’re in the mood for a jam session.
W London has a vinyl room service so you can have your music delivered directly to you.
Using the Whatever/Whenever service, you can pick five vinyls to be delivered to your room, along with a portable Crosley record player. You can choose from the Britpop Collection, curated by Lauren Laverne or the Vinyl Collection, chosen by Annie Mac.
The Distillery, otherwise known as the “gin hotel” will be opening on Portobello Road in December. It will have just three boutique bedrooms, but each one will have a record player. What could be better to enjoy with your sweet vinyl music than delicious, delicious gin?
Firmdale’s hotels are known for being design-led, with plenty of colour and quirky patterns. Some of the suites and apartments at the Haymarket Hotel have another charming touch in the form of a record player.
The Suffolk Suites and flexible Townhouse space have record players with vinyl selections, as well as Bluetooth Bose units. The Townhouse can be configured to have from two to five bedrooms, with its own private entrance and one from the hotel too.
If you can’t bear to be without your record player when you travel, these hotels should provide you with the comforts of home.
