So here it is, Merry Christmas, everybody’s having scones…or at least they are at some of London’s top hotels. If you’re partial to a themed afternoon tea, there are Christmas teas abound this year at many of our favourite hotels.

Check out just a few top picks for yule logs, mince pies, and puddings…

The Lanesborough

You can always count on The Lanesborough for a good themed afternoon tea.

This winter, their festive offering includes some reinvented Christmas favourites. The menu features spiced muffins, apple and cinnamon doughnuts, and mulled wine and pear cake.

You’ll also get mince pies, alongside your scones and sandwiches.

The Chesterfield

Enjoy your very own potted Christmas tree at The Chesterfield Mayfair – chocolate pot, that is.

You can also sample mulled wine macarons, cranberry and vanilla cheesecake, and a clementine mousse snowball.

Alongside your festive treats, the Winter Wonderland menu also features a shot of mulled wine and a special Christmas tea blend.

La Suite West

Finding a good afternoon tea if you’re vegetarian or vegan can be tough. From clotted cream to smoked salmon sandwiches, traditional items aren’t exactly suitable. But at La Suite West, they have a vegan menu that’s ideal.

They’ve jollied it up for Christmas, adding winter spiced scones and vegan mince pies. Your food comes with a glass of non-alcoholic fizz.

InterContinental London Park Lane

The InterContinental on Park Lane has a special afternoon tea designed by chocolatier Paul Young for the festive season.

Full of winter flavours, it includes a warm Stilton, chestnut and walnut vol-au-vent, and turkey and sage stuffing bound in black pepper and clove mayonnaise.

Scones are both classic and speculaas-flavoured – a traditional Dutch/Belgian spiced biscuit. The fruit cake uses Winston Churchill’s family recipe.

There is a number of other great hotels with festive menus. Try anywhere from The Dorchester to K West Hotel and Spa for some seasonal flavours.
