2016 has been a big year for hotel renovations in London. It looks like they are set to continue in 2017, with luxury hotel Dukes having already begun extensive refurbishments.
The hotel began working on a new look in November. By spring 2017, they expect to have completed everything they have planned. The refurbishment involves changes to the hotel’s bedrooms, public areas, and restaurant. In January, they will start work on the restaurant, meeting rooms, and bedrooms.
Dukes is partnering with Liberty Fabrics to furnish several of the hotel’s spaces.
The famous London brand’s recognisable patterns will form a significant part of the new look at Dukes. Starting from January, the refurbishment will tackle the Drawing Room, as well as the Duchess Rooms, which are specially designed for female solo travellers.
The partnership with Liberty will reportedly be especially important in these rooms to add to their feminine touches. The restaurant at the hotel will become more casual and will be called GBR.
As one of London’s top luxury hotels, the staff at Dukes recognise the importance of keeping up to date with their standards.
The multi-million pound renovation will be the most expensive project Dukes has undertaken in several decades. They hope to maintain the Dukes experience while adding to what the hotel’s guests love most about it.
Dukes has won ‘World’s Leading Classic Hotel’ at the World Travel Awards for five consecutive years, grabbing its fifth award this year.
They’re gearing up to make 2017 another exciting year, aiming to maintain their 5-star service when they carry out the refurb.
2017 will be exciting for the Dukes brand as a whole too. January will see the opening of their first overseas property in Dubai. However, they don’t plan for the hotel to be an exact copy of its London sister property, although they have taken staff from London out there to maintain their quality service.
