While the US has many Anglophiles, Britain often reciprocates the love. In London, in particular, American trends often take off and it’s food that can have the most success.
A new London hotel will be bringing classic American cuisine to London. The Curtain Hotel and Private Members Club opens in early 2017 and will be the home of Red Rooster Shoreditch. It will be the London outpost of the Harlem restaurant by New York chef Marcus Samuelsson.
The Red Rooster menu combines southern soul food, the diverse culinary traditions that have informed American cuisine, and Samuelsson’s Northern European background. London has developed a taste for a range of foods from across the pond, from pulled pork to fried chicken.
As well as the menu being available throughout the restaurant and bar, the Red Rooster team are also consulting on the food offering in the hotel’s club areas.
While many critics are excited about the restaurant, it’s not the only interesting thing at the hotel.
The Curtain will have 120 bedrooms, including six suites. It will also feature a rooftop swimming pool, spa, fitness centre, and over 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Members of the private club at The Curtain will have access to all areas of the hotel, plus additional restaurant and bar spaces. The club will be aimed at creative people, offering spaces for a broad range of industries.
Red Rooster isn’t the only space associated with big names, as the 24-hour fitness centre has been designed by Jon Squirrell from The Vault Gym.
Art is another thing that will play an important roll in the hotel. Photographer Mick Rock’s work will be displayed throughout the hotel and he is also curating the hotel’s art with street art collector Steve Lazarides.
Previous information had suggested that The Curtain would be open by now, but the opening now seems to be set for early in the new year.
