It’s a new year, but not yet a new season. We still need to make it through the rest of winter as we navigate the beginning of 2017. Fortunately, there’s plenty to keep you occupied in London’s hotels.
Whether winter is your favourite season or you prefer to hibernate until it goes away, you can make the most of it with one of these enjoyable experiences…
Cresta Bar Pop-up at The Goring
Winter pop-ups have become more and more popular over the last few years. Hotels are beginning to be more creative too, going beyond a generic winter theme for their pop-up bars and other experiences.
At The Goring, you can settle into their Cresta Bar, which is inspired by the Cresta Run. This adventurous toboggan run is located in St. Moritz and was used as the track for the skeleton events in the 1928 and 1948 Olympics.
The Goring’s cosy bar features cocktails inspired by the Cresta Run, created by the team at Kulm Hotel St. Moritz’s Sunny Bar. There are also Swiss-inspired canapes to enjoy in the alpine setting. The pop-up is open until “early 2017″, so you might not have long to plan your visit.
Rooftop Winter Cinema at The Berkeley
The Berkeley Health Club and Spa has previously turned their rooftop space into a cinema, and they have done the same again for this winter.
They have chosen some classic films for their screenings, having shown Miracle on 34th Street and Santa Claus: The Movie throughout December. In January and February, you have the chance to see Bridget Jones’s Diary, Notting Hill or Some Like It Hot.
There are two screenings every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until February 12th, with two ticket options available. Guests can have mulled wine, hot chocolate and mini shepherd’s pies. Or thry can opt for a glass of champagne, mulled wine and warming canapes.
Snow Paradise at K West Hotel and Spa
Here’s one that you can do all year. K West isn’t one to shy away from innovation and experimentation. So it might not come as much of a surprise to learn that the hotel’s spa has London’s first “snow paradise”.
This interesting room, chilled to a cool -15 degrees Celsius, is like the icy equivalent of a sauna or steam room. The cabin is designed to complement the spa’s hot-cold therapy, apparently stimulating your blood circulation and benefiting the immune system.
2016 might be over but winter isn’t just yet. There are lots of ways you can continue to enjoy the season around London before spring arrives.
