January is the month for pretending to be healthy for a while. If you’re not doing Dry January this year, perhaps you’re taking part in Veganuary, when you eat vegan for a month.
Eating out is difficult when you have a vegan diet. There are specialist vegan restaurants in London, but it’s not so easy if you want to try other places. If you’re giving Veganuary a go, the lack of restaurant options might get you down. However, why not try one of these hotels with delicious vegan meals?
La Suite West
The menu at La Suite West’s restaurant offers vegan-friendly, dairy-free and raw food dishes.
The breakfast menu includes a vegan option with scrambled tofu, vegan sausage, baked beans, and mushrooms. The all-day dining menu also offers diners a range of delicious vegan food, from courgetti to vegan apple pie. There’s even a vegan afternoon tea, with non-alcoholic fizz.
The Soho Hotel
Try Refuel at The Soho Hotel for a full vegan menu, with plenty of options.
The stylish hotel restaurant has such delights as Asian broth, chickpea and kidney bean curry, and soya yoghurt and blackberry compote.
Covent Garden Hotel
Breakfast and brunch are the most important meals at the weekend. Another Firmdale hotel offers a vegan option of sautéed spinach, field mushrooms, chilli beans and crispy tofu.
Brasserie Max also offers a vegan afternoon tea on request, as well as sugar-free and gluten-free options.
Most luxury hotel restaurants are happy to make up a vegan meal for you if you request it in advance. But the Savoy Grill is one of the few that has a vegan menu ready and waiting for you.
The menu is limited, but still offers a couple of options for your starter, main and dessert. Start with a baby artichoke, green bean and frisee salad, then enjoy wild mushroom couscous, before finishing with a homemade sorbets.
Eating out is difficult when you’re eating vegan, but it’s not impossible. Even if you’re looking for a hotel, there are several suitable options.
