A number of hotels are set to open in London this year, as usual. One will be launching later in January – the Lalit London.
The 70-room hotel will be the first overseas hotel for The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group. The group runs 14 hotels in India and will be bringing some Indian flavour to the capital. The hotel aims to provide “the best of Indian culture, hospitality and cuisine”.
Lalit London is a £50-million project, situated in a Grade II listed building, previously the home of St Olave’s Grammar School.
Alongside its 88-cover Indian restaurant, it will also have a gym and spa, and a cocktail bar. The restaurant is called Baluchi and will have a wine and bread bar called The Naanery. Dining options include eating in the Great Hall, sitting on the mezzanine level overlooking the hall, or eating outside.
The individually crafted bedrooms range from Cosy Classrooms to the Legacy Suite. It’s not difficult to see the Indian influence in their design.
The spa, Rejuve, will offer a holistic experience that combines eastern and western treatments. It also features a 24-hour gym.
The Lalit will also feature meeting rooms, which they have called Laboratories. The spaces are intended for both meetings and private dining. The hotel’s event planners and catering team are available to organize events.
The hotel’s location in Tower Bridge is ideal for access to London City Airport, which is just over 7 miles away. Heathrow and Gatwick are also both under 30 miles away. London Bridge station is just 5 minutes’ walk away, giving access to the underground and overground.
Lalit London will add another luxury boutique hotel to the London hotel landscape. The hotel’s Indian influence will bring something different to the city.
