Marriott launched their young and trendy Moxy brand in 2014, with a hotel in Milan. After several more openings in Europe and the US, the brand has at last come to London.
There are currently five European Moxy Hotels, with the London property making it six, plus a further two in Florida and New Orleans. The Moxy Hotel London Excel is the second in the UK, with the first being the Aberdeen property. There are plans for another two London hotels this year, in Stratford and at Heathrow, along with more than 40 pitched to open in Europe and the US by the end of 2019.
This ambitious expansion plan will put the modern Moxy brand in a number of cities and countries, including airport locations.
Marriott teamed up with IKEA to create the brand, which aims to be an affordable and stylish option for young travellers.
The London Excel hotel is close to the ExCeL London convention centre, as well as London City Airport. It features the Living Room, a hangout space with plenty of power outlets and USB ports, as well as fast and free WiFi.
The B&F dining establishment is a self-service concept, so guests can get food and drink whenever they want. The bar, however, is full service and also doubles up as a reception, where guests will be handed a cocktail on arrival.
Rooms at Moxy London Excel range from Standard to Family rooms, which feature a queen size bed and a sofa bed.
They have TVs, WiFi, more USB ports, and an open storage concept with a peg wall for flexibility.
There are more digital features for members of Marriott’s rewards programme. The Marriott Mobile app allows them to check in and check out via mobile, as well as use keyless entry and make mobile requests.
Even the hotel’s lobby is cooler than cool, with a library and lifts inspired by photo booths, where guests are encouraged to take selfies with props. You can even bring your trendy four-legged friend.
Book your room at Moxy London Excel now, and two more will open in Stratford and Heathrow later this year.
