Summer might seem like it’s far away, but it’s really not that long until things brighten up a bit. The daffodils are out, the clocks go forward soon, and it’s slowly getting warmer. London summers might not be the hottest in the world, but they can still be delightful.
If you’re already looking forward to the summer, there are some great ways you can spend it in the capital. Summer is a good time to try something new, so it’s a good thing there’ll be some new hotels opening this summer. Try one of these for your London stay…
The first Nobu hotel in London has been in the works for a few years, but will finally open its doors in Shoreditch this summer.
It’s already open for bookings and will naturally feature a Nobu restaurant. The hotel styles itself as “a place to go and be seen”, so it could be a good choice for a bit of celebrity spotting. Guest rooms feature a custom-designed media cabinet, which has a private bar, traditional Japanese tea set, and TV with Bluetooth and Apple TV.
One of the masterminds behind The Pilgrm is a former partner at The Zetter Group, purveyor of quirky boutique hotels in London.
Opening on Norfolk Square in summer 2017, the hotel is “inspired by old world design and the glory of British craftsmanship” but also aims to meet the needs of the modern traveller. The Pilgrm will have 73 bedrooms and feature a community cafe and a lounge bar with a terrace.
The Principal London
The Principal London is a renovation of the former Hotel Russell on Russell Square in Bloomsbury.
The Principal Hotel Group already has hotels in Edinburgh, Manchester and York, and will be making a mark on London in the summer.
The hotel will have rooms and suites ranging from a compact but roomy City Single to the 68sqm Corner Suite. Dining options include the newly restored Palm Court, the casual Burr & Co., and the glam Fitz’s bar. If you feel like a summer party, the ballroom holds an impressive 450 people.
Moxy London Stratford
The first London Moxy hotel recently opened, and there should be two more along this year. The first is meant to arrive in “mid-2017″, which we’ll take to mean sometime in the summer.
Moxy is a Marriott brand intended for modern travellers, providing for their tech needs and setting up in lots of convenient locations. Their 24/7 snacks and drinks concept, free WiFi, and free-to-use computers make it easy for guests to get everything they need.
Pick a new hotel for your summer trip to London and make your time in the capital even more exciting. Everything’s better when it’s brand new.
