It can be slim pickings when it comes to vegan food if you want to eat out. But at least the state of things tends to be better in a large city like London, and it’s just got a little bit better.

We can now add The Egerton House Hotel to the list of good London hotels for vegans. Their new vegan afternoon tea has everything you would expect from the traditional meal, but there are no animal products in sight.

The vegan menu includes scones, fresh sandwiches and sweet treats, all completely vegan. Unlike some other vegan afternoon tea options available in London, you don’t need to order it in advance. The vegan menu is available all the time but, like the other menus, the hotel does advise pre-booking.

Order the new tea and you’ll get cakes that include an iced chocolate brownie, vanilla and coconut sponge, lemon drizzle cake, and a fruit and custard tartlet.

Sandwiches are filled with new fillings and vegan takes on the traditional options, such as  grilled vegetables, guacamole and rocket, chickpeas coronation, and cucumber.

Plain and fruit vegan scones are included too, with a selection of preserves. And, of course, there’s a selection of fine leaf teas.

The Egerton House Hotel is happy to cater for a range of people in their Drawing Room – as well as four-legged guests.

In addition to a vegetarian afternoon tea menu and children’s Teddy’s Bear Picnic, the hotel also offers a Doggie Afternoon Tea, which includes homemade dog biscuits, dog ice cream, and even a squeaky toy to take home.

If you’re always on the lookout for vegan dining options, add The Egerton House Hotel to your list for a traditional afternoon tea.
