The Goring Hotel has had its fair share of attention over the past couple of months; it was of course the hotel where Kate Middleton spent the night before the Royal Wedding with her family taking the entire place over, as widely reported in the British TV news and other media.
Kate stayed in the hotel’s Royal Suite and unless you have access to £5,000 plus VAT then the chances of you ever staying in her bed are rather slim. Whilst this may be out of reach for most of us, The Goring now has another slightly more accessible reason to visit: a Caribbean Beach Bar complete with white sand and three fishing boats!
The special beach bar is being designed by interior designer of the moment Russell Sage, who was also responsible for the Royal Suite.
The bar will be run by Basil Charles who has his own bar on the island of Mustique in the Caribbean. Basil’s bar is a regular celebrity hangout and the likes of Kate Moss, Amy Winehouse, Mick Jagger and even our very own Royal couple, Kate and Wills, have all drunk there.
Located in the hotel’s garden, the bar (which opens to the public on Wednesday 8th June) is being built by Blue Forest – which specialises in über-luxury, sustainable tree houses and eco-lodges. We wouldn’t expect anything else from The Goring than “uber-luxury”!
The bar will serve cocktails inspired by those served in the infamous Mustique bar, which coincidentally is also listed in the “1000 things to do before you die” book. Tempting delights include the Mustique Mule, the Hurricane David and Basil’s Rum Punch. While Basil himself may only be in London for a few weeks, The Beach Bar will remain open until September.
The Beach Bar will be open from noon until 9pm, Tuesday to Saturday. We suggest that you head along before Basil leaves to benefit from the full Caribbean experience!
