London’s hotels haven’t been shying away from art in the last year.

The Andaz Liverpool Street let artists loose on their ‘Room with a View‘ bedrooms, Brown’s has just run a second London Art Weekend, and now The Cumberland Hotel is getting arty too.

Their new initiative aims to bring artists into the hotel to paint live in front of their guests. The first artist making an appearance will be internationally-famous contemporary artist and ex-Paralympian Gregory Burns.

Burns is painting a collage of his journey through London, inspired by a collection of people’s personal experiences. The hotel is offering a special “Art-full” package to guests who want to get involved. The package includes guided walks to see some of London’s hotspots for art, cocktails, a chance to meet Gregory Burns and a tailor-made art pack in bedrooms.

Burns’ project aims to capture London through the eyes of the staff and guests at The Cumberland. He’ll be painting in the lobby throughout July, between 2pm and 6pm every day, so anyone can go in and watch him.

He says, “I love exploring London taking my art pad wherever I go. Thanks to The Cumberland Hotel I have a chance to speak to guests and staff from all over the world and capture what London means to them. My painting is inspired by a collection of people with personal experiences and I look forward to adding to it over the next few weeks.”

The Art-full package is available until August 31st 2015, starting from £299 a night – but you need to book before the end of July. Even if you don’t book a stay, pop along to The Cumberland Hotel to watch Gregory Burns at work and see how his collage is taking shape.
