London’s Hard Rock Cafe first opened 45 years ago this week. In might surprise you then to learn that it won’t be until 2018 that the city will get its very first Hard Rock Hotel.
Hard Rock Hotel London will be hosting live music events from local and international acts while celebrating the city’s musical heritage and contemporary scene with a memorabilia vault and curated displays of memorabilia. Hard Rock International has a collection of over 80,000 pieces.
The hotel will be a rebranding of The Cumberland, currently a Guoman hotel.

It was once a favourite haunt of Jimi Hendrix and has a unique Jimi Hendrix Suite. It’s being opened by Hard Rock International, in collaboration with glh Hotels. The hotel’s location at Marble Arch is ideal for reaching the Hard Rock Cafe, only a few minutes away.
The new hotel will have 900 rooms, with panoramic views over Hyde Park and easy access to Oxford Street and Park Lane. Guests will be close to the West End, Soho, and plenty of shopping opportunities.
Guests will be welcomed into a vast lobby lounge, which will have live music and signature cocktails.
There will be a Hard Rock Cafe on site, plus a Rock Shop so guests can get all their Hard Rock merchandise. Guests who want to unwind can go to the Rock Spa (presumably a haven from any loud music), and food and drink options include a signature restaurant and a speakeasy.
Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos has announced more than ten projects in the last year, and Hard Rock Hotel London is their latest. Others include hotels in New York, Berlin, and Atlanta. The London hotel will arrive in summer 2018, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on it as things develop. In the meantime, you may not have much longer to enjoy a stay at The Cumberland.
