This year’s Time Out Bar Awards have revealed that London’s hotels still have some of the best bars around. Four of the seven categories had winners and runners-up from hotels.
The London Edition’s Punch Room took home the top prize for both Bar of the Year and Most Stylish Bar. The Connaught Bar at The Connaught Hotel, Dandelyan at the Mondrian, and Dukes Bar at Dukes Hotel all won or came second in other categories.
The Connaught Bar was runner-up for Bar of the Year, and also took Classiest Bar, beating out an all-hotel selection of nominations.

Connaught Bar and Dukes Bar, which was runner-up for Classiest Bar, bested Beaufort Bar at The Savoy, Edition’s Punch Room, and the quirky bar at Zetter Townhouse, Clerkenwell.
Ryan Chetiyawardana and his team at Mondrian London snagged Best Bartender or Team. They now have the chance to fly to Austin, Texas for an event celebrating them.

It’s not just for them though, as the awards are part of Time Out’s new Global Bar Awards programme. It includes four other cities: Paris, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Perhaps not quite as global as some might hope for, but they do cover several countries.
No London hotel bars made it onto the shortlist for Best New Bar or Hippest Bar, and Dandelyan missed out on Most Creative Bar. Nevertheless, hotel bars did well, taking home the majority of awards available.
London Edition’s Punch Room is clearly the place to be this year.

The bar serves craft cocktails, letting guests choose a single or group punch bowl with one of ten carefully-crafted drinks. Since gin is in at the moment, one is a gin-infused punch with jasmine tea and oak moss. Thebar plays music ranging from ska to blues, with impromptu live performances too.
If you’re looking for a new bar to try in London, these award winners have Time Out’s stamp of approval.
