Sweet new suites at The Dorchester.

by Jules on November 15, 2012

The iconic hotel The Dorchester recently unveiled 22 new suites by designer Alexandra Champalimaud.  The suites are themed around quintessentially British style just like the classic hotel’s interiors.  They come in a variety of sizes starting with the Junior and Stanhope Suites followed by 14 Dorchester Suites with open fireplaces and finally the largest of the bunch, the famous Oliver Messel Suite.  As we’ve investigated in the past here at London Hotels Insight, suites rule the luxury hotel landscape.

There are also three roof suites with large outside terraces and views of Hyde Park.  As you can imagine, no expense has been spared with artwork signed by The Prince of Wales, high-end toiletries, spacious bathrooms and lavish furnishings included.  All suites come with butlers (copying The Lanesborough?) and prices start at £3,198 but you can’t put a price on luxury… can you?  The Dorchester is known for being a celebrity hotel and these extravagant suites are only going to reinforce that appeal.

If you do have the cash to splash on a sweet suite stay, you might want to also take advantage of the Festive Floral Masterclass taking place on Tuesday 4th December.  The session allows 12 guests to learn how to create a wreath and a posy candle arrangement for the festive period.  It is followed by a Festive Afternoon Tea hosted by the in-house Florist team and a nail treatment.  The cost is £250 per person – a drop in the ocean when you’re paying over £3,000 per night!

And even at that price The Dorchester is sadly among the ever more isolated group of expensive London hotels which charge extra for WiFi* – though we’re sure they’ll let you off if you ask nicely!

* The hotel claims “basic” WiFi is free but why should guests paying 5 star prices expect “basic” as standard?
