Your perfect “Sherlock Holmes” London stay.
London is going Sherlock Holmes crazy with the release of the new movie bearing the famous detective’s name. Staff at Visit Britain have even set up a special website to help visitors explore London through Sherlock’s eyes.
One of the highlights of this itinerary is a visit to the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street – where the legendary detective and his trusted sidekick Dr Watson resided). It’s tiny but boasts a study in full Victorian décor along with artefacts that fans will instantly recognise.
The “Sherlock Holmes” pub at 10 Northumberland Street is also worth a visit. It is jam-packed with Holmes memorabilia and was apparently decorated with the help of the Conan Doyle family.
Which hotels should a Holmes hound in London head for?
Radisson Edwardian Hotels are running a “Sherlock Holmes Experience” special including 2 tickets to see the movie and a complimentary guide book (please enquire directly with them for details).
We’ve already featured the recently-renovated Radisson Edwardian Bloomsbury Street (great for the British Museum) – a hotel currently in the top 100 on TripAdvisor. Guests seem to adore its friendly staff.

The Radisson Edwardian Hampshire is ranked a bit lower but is right on Leicester Square – perfect for seeing the movie as you’re in the heart of London’s cinema land, as well as being near the delights of Soho.

More imaginative Holmes fans who have done a bit of detective work themselves might instead opt for the newly-refurbished Langham Hotel.
They’ll know that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – who lived nearby – often visited the hotel, which was occasionally mentioned in his stories.
Not surprisingly, the Langham is also offering a Sherlock Holmes special (enquire directly for details) which gives you a special Conan Doyle suite and a free Sherlock Holmes cocktail in the glamorous new Artesian bar.

We love the hotel’s Palm Court as a venue for one of London’s finest afternoon teas. If that’s not all, it’s also rumoured to be a haunted hotel!
The Langham also has one of London’s four most expensive suites and is currently in the top 40 on TripAdvisor.
But wherever you end up staying, we wish you happy sleuthing in London!
