The Savoy is set to reopen on 10.10.10.
Taxi drivers across London will once again start hearing the familiar refrain of "Take me to the Savoy" from October 2010 onwards
London Hotels Insight pulled off a remarkable scoop a few months back when we managed to corner the chief architect behind the Savoy refurbishment into revealing that the project faced yet another delay.
This story was then picked up by many other blogs around the world.
We also released some nuggets about the renovated Savoy’s new look in mouthwatering detail. Now the Savoy has finally set a date: 10th October 2010 (or 10.10.10 – just to make sure you have no chance of forgetting!).
Of course, the first question you’ll ask when there have been so many slippages is: could it be delayed again?

I think it’s highly unlikely. This is the first time that Fairmont Hotels & Resorts (the Savoy’s operator) has actually given a specific date.
Moreover, you can even start booking rooms from August onwards (starting at a lofty £350 per night – they need to start paying for those cost overruns somehow!). So this time it looks very much like the real deal.
